Train market and floating markets
Train market and floating markets
Overview
No holiday is complete without a trip to the floating markets of Thailand, and on this tour you get to go to three very different and contrasting markets – the first of which is sometimes called the “take your life in your hands” market and will literally take your breath away.
But this tour is not only about markets. For most of the day you’ll be cycling through some of the richest coconut plantations and fruit orchards in South East Asia. Discover how generations have perfected a sustainable industry from the coconut plantations. And, there’s more… out here, there are hidden gems that only the Thai people know about. Such as a 400 year old temple that is totally encrusted and supported by Banyan trees.
The day ends with a visit to the friendliest of floating markets that specializes in homemade arts and crafts with a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere.
This is the perfect family tour as we have a support vehicle following us all the way. So if the kids (or you) need to take a break from the saddle, just hop into the van to recouperate.
Join us for a perfect get-away from busy Bangkok where the pace is slow, people are friendly and food is amazing.
Itinerary
We start the day with an early morning pick up at your hotel and head South West out of Bangkok. It will take about an hour to get to our first stop, so this is a good chance to catch up on your sleep.
Railway market and Palm sugar production
The first few places we visit are by van and first of which is the bizzare train market where buyers and sellers risk their lives with each coming and going of the train. Following this we take a leisurely drive through the coconut plantations stopping a couple of times to see how palm sugar is made from start to finish. This usually involves a walk through the plantations and visiting some home based industries.
Cycling to Amphawa market
We have a quick stop at the famous Floating Market of Thailand where you can take a trip on the boats while the bikes are prepared. After which the cycling starts. Most of the riding is along the quiet roads in the coconut plantations where we stop frequently to chat to the locals, take photos and just generally have fun. Lunch is at a beautiful riverside resturant where you’ll experience some of the best Thai food ever. After lunch we continue on to some unique temples along the way before pulling in to the most amzaing floating market which has character and charm unlike any other market in Thailand. Here the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed with no forced buying/selling from the vendors. From here we pack the bikes (and ourselves) into the van and head on back to Bangkok where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.
