Detailed Itinerary
We meet at 8:00 a.m. for a briefing and bike fitting before leaving to explore some hidden treasures of Bangkok.
This unique cycling adventure begins with a crossing of the mighty Chao Phraya River, where the atmosphere quickly shifts from modern city to quiet local neighbourhoods rich in history and culture.
As we pedal through narrow back lanes and traditional Muslim communities exploring a forgotten ancient Chinese shrine deep within the neighbourhood.
We'll follow the local railway line, with stops for water and/or iced coffee along the way, as well as frequent stops at many places of interest that showcases the authenticity and uniqueness of the community.
A scheduled stop will be at the magnificent Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen, one of the city's most impressive temples that houses the biggest Buddha image in Bangkok. This temple has many interesting attractions with one of the most spectacular being a beautifully neon painted dome at the top of the main chedi and magnificent views over the surrounding neighbourhood.
The highlight of the tour awaits along a historic canal — a vibrant artistic village where local craftsmen keep traditional skills alive. Here we'll have a local lunch after which you can browse handmade creations or even try making your own Thai souvenir.
To end the adventure, you have the option of cycling back to the shop or to swap your bike for a traditional long-tail boat and cruise peacefully through the canals to Pinklao bridge, from which we'll cycle back to the shop. However the cost of the long-tail boat is not included in the cost of the tour. Should you decide to cycle back, this journey follows a different route back, through little hidden communities built alongside canals. Either way, both options give you the perfect finish to a journey into Bangkok's hidden heart.
